VIEWS News issue 69 (2022Q3) is delayed and will appear in October 2022. I know this won’t be 2022Q3, but it will be close, and will include articles about SAS macros, SAS Studio and ODS Graphics, plus the other usual features.

Recommended approach to accessing VIEWS News issues from #1, if you have already registered for free blog membership and requested access to the VIEWS UK forum:

  1. Always log onto the site using Member Login from the menu at https://hollandnumerics.org.uk first. The site will ask you to join if you try to use a restricted link before logging on!
  2. Having successfully logged on, scroll to the bottom of the web page and click on the link to VIEWS UK in the Forum List. Note that you already have access if you can see VIEWS UK in the Forum List.
  3. If you are looking for a specific issue click on VIEWS News – Backissues.
  4. If you are looking for a specific topic (including issues where you have articles) click on Forum tag cloud.

I hope this makes your searching easier……………Phil

VIEWS News 68 (2022Q2) has been published!

Loading

VIEWS News issue 68 has now been published. I know it should have been published in May, but, as I was on vacation at the end of May, and Q2 doesn’t end until the end of June, I think I’m still on target!  😉

It is glorious summer, although you might not find all Brits celebrating the warmer weather! This newsletter issue includes another useful SAS programming tip from Nina L Werner (see issue 43 for her first tip), and some extracts from my SAS conference papers about Enterprise Guide and unique keys. As usual I have publicised some SAS related events for the next few months, and I have also added some more SAS formats, options and functions that you may or may not have come across before, but you might find interesting, and even useful.

If you would like to contribute an article, to re-visit and improve an existing article, or just discuss the possibility of doing so, please feel free to send an email to me at view-uk@hollandnumerics.org.uk or phil@hollandnumerics.org.uk.

To be able to read this and all previous issues you will need to follow these steps:

  1. If you have not already registered on this blog site, go to blog.hollandnumerics.org.uk and register for free membership.
  2. Once successfully registered, click the menu item [Subscriptions for Forums and Features] > [Request access to the VIEWS UK forum] to request free access to the VIEWS UK forum, then add your name and email address to the form before clicking [Send].
  3. On receipt of a request for an existing blog member I will register them for free access to the VIEWS UK forum, and then send them an email to confirm this.
  4. The next time they log onto the blog site they will see VIEWS UK in the forum list, where you will find the latest issue of VIEWS News, forum topics to find the backissues, functions and formats in every published issue, and a tag cloud covering every forum on the site to which you have access, including VIEWS UK and the VIEWS News issues.
  5. They will also be automatically informed of any VIEWS UK updates.

Enjoy!……………..Phil

If you use a mobile device, then this blog site will now look different!

Loading

WordPress uses plug-ins to extend its functionality, and I have added plug-ins for many parts of this site.

However, plug-ins do not always play nicely with each other, so I have decided to switch off AMP, the mobile experience plug-in, to stop it interfering with the SAS Jobs Listing pages. Specifically, you will now be able to apply for SAS jobs on this site without having to “Exit Mobile Page”. AMP has also been impacting some of the topic pages in the Forums, so there is more than enough evidence to deactivate it!

Apologies to those of you who were actually benefitting from AMP, but “Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” (Spock, The Wrath of Khan, 1982).

Head and shoulders view with a smile, and wearing professional working clothesProfessional, serious, but approachable.
Head and shoulders view with a serious face, and wearing professional working clothesProfessional, serious, and may not welcome human contact.

Blank single colour photoWishes to hide real identity from someone, but has got around the bug in #opentowork without a photo, which, at least, shows some understanding of LinkedIn.
Background has contrasting colour Wants to be noticed.
Background is busy and multi-coloured, which makes them difficult to see in a smaller imageWants to hide from someone, lacks self-confidence, or doesn’t understand how to compose a profile photo for LinkedIn.
