Comments: www.lacorneduboisdespendus.com Ingredients: water, malt, wheat, hops, yeast. The ale called La Corne du Bois des Pendus is a beer brewed with Pilsen malt and wheat. This gives it a sunny colour, a plentiful and creamy head with exceptionally long hold. The two varieties of hops selected result in a beer with a noticeable and even strong bitterness. Citrus and rose aromas are also present. It is thus both smooth and refreshing. This first beer from the Ebly brewery has an alcohol content of 5.9 % and is available in 33 cl bottles. La Corne du Bois des Pendus must be enjoyed in its horn-shaped glass. La Corne du Bois des Pendus blonde received the silver medal from the public at the world beer contest held in Strasbourg on 24th October 2010. Voted for by 16,000 visitors and selected from over 400 beers from about twenty countries in the world (Italy, Germany, Canada, Brazil…), this was the only Belgian beer rewarded in this global contest. The place called La Corne du Bois des Pendus comes from a tragic event that occurred in the 17th century during the terrible Thirty Years’ War. Polish, Croatian and Hungarian troops sent by Germany to fight against France settled in southern Luxembourg in February 1636. Believing they were in France, the troops began to ransom all surrounding villages. They tracked down the people who had taken refuge in the forest of Anlier. Between La Folie and the hamlet of Rodenhoff, where the forest of Anlier forms a Horn, the troops hanged a hundred men, women and children. It is in tribute that this place is now called la Corne du Bois des Pendus.
